^8 (A)Nineveh is like a pool
    whose waters run away.^[a]
“Halt! Halt!” they cry,
    but ^(B)none turns back.
⁹ Plunder the silver,
    plunder the gold!
There is no end of the treasure
    or of the wealth of all precious things.
^10 (C)Desolate! Desolation and ruin!
    ^(D)Hearts melt and ^(E)knees tremble;
^(F)anguish is in all loins;
    ^(G)all faces grow pale!
